The John Martin Heritage Festival

Evening Guided Walk - John Martin Country

An evening walk in the countryside which influenced Victorian artist John Martin, born in the village, who became the ‘most popular artist of his day’. This walk was to the south east of the village taking in Threepwood, Elrington, Haydon Spa and returning along the South Tyne river bank, a distance of 4.75 miles. This time walkers managed to miss some very nasty showers and took advantage of the evening sunlight which followed.
