The John Martin Heritage Festival

Guided Walk - The John Martin Trail - Event Cancelled

Saturday 28 April 2012 10am-4.00pm

Walkers meet at The Bridge, Church Street, Haydon Bridge
Staward Gorge
An all day walk around the southern loop of the John Martin Trail, a moderately strenuous route of 11 miles. This popular walk covers the areas which influenced Victorian artist John Martin, born in the village, who became the ‘most popular artist of his day’. There are regular waymarks and six information panels en route. For advance information a free walk leaflet with maps is available from Claire’s Newsagents and The Bridge, Church Street, local Tourist Information Centres and the Laing Art Gallery. A copy in pdf format (1.1mb) can be downloaded by clicking the link below.

Download copy of John Martin Trail leaflet.

The walk will be led by a trained volunteer guide who is familiar with both the route and points of interest around the walk. Participants should ensure that they have sufficient clothing and equipment for the day, including stout footwear, waterproofs and food.

No bookings have been received for this event, which is therefore cancelled. The next guided walk will be on 26 May   Click here for details
